Website Part 3
Thurgood was a main attributing factor towards the victorious case of Brown vs. Board of Education he helped destroy legal segregation in public schools, this not only changed education in America for African-Americans but also granted opportunities and jobs that would have been later denied due to lack of education. Brown v.s Board of Education was a vital piece in ending racial segregation in America.
The Black Lives Matter movement would be an echo of Thurgood's vision, he wanted to give African-Americans equal opportunity in which he believed and found ending segregation essential, the BLM movement wants to end police brutality and racially-based violence towards African-Americans both share the effort to end racial bias against African-Americans.
Although Thurgood spent his entire life trying to end racial bias education has always been an issue he has had to fight for. Institutional racism is what Marshall fought against and made much progress to destroy, countless civil right movements today still pave the way towards dissolving said opportunity hoarding and example of such being privatized schools being majority white, or low African-American college graduation rates compared to that of White-Americans are various examples of said educational bias that Thurgood spent many years fighting.
